Slate roof

Roof slates are characterized by particularly high quality. The biggest advantage of a slate roof is its impressive durability. A slate roof is practically maintenance-free. Provided the correct installation, gives it solid protection against the weather and lasts for generations.

The quality is not only outstanding, it is also timeless. Imagine this: you can take slate from a 100-year-old house and use it on a new one. It is this ability to stand the test of time that makes a slate roof extraordinary! No wonder Norwegian roofing slate is among the most reused building materials we have.

Our roofing slate is available in various formats and sizes, so you can adapt the look to your wishes. Our slate from Pillarguritoppen is mainly black. Minerals in the stone take it on a natural journey from black to a golden rust color. It can take several years for the slate to develop its final patina. With roofing slate from us, you can truly look forward to a lasting and beautiful roof!

Types of slate roofs

There are four different slate formats used on a slate roof: square slates, scalloped slates, rectangular slates and random slabs. Which one you choose depends largely on the look you want for the roof.

Most roofing slate formats from Otta Skifer are supplied with calibrated thickness. The benefits of an even thickness are many:

  • The slate lies more stably
  • Less risk of the slate breaking when you walk on the roof or when the roof carries heavy loads of snow and ice
  • The roof is more even
  • The entire delivery comes in one thickness instead of a thickness range
  • Less risk of the slate breaking during packing and transport

Roofing slate is supplied with clipped edges, pre-drilled for easy and correct installation.

Lifespan and choice of materials

When it comes to roofing, durability is key, and phyllite slate roofs from Otta Skifer are the very symbol of long life and reliability. Choose a roof of lasting quality that will last for centuries.
