Slate roofs with random slabs are the oldest form of roofing. The slabs are supplied as medium or large random slabs, usually 20\u201330 mm thick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The random slabs are fitted on site, where holes are drilled for fastening or notches are sawn into the edges of the slabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Random slabs require more overlap. This type of slate roof is therefore relatively heavy, and the structure of the house must be designed to carry the load.
